Your role decides your objective. Survivors work toward opening the exits; the Beast tries to capture them in freeze pods. Learn these four actions before worrying about advanced shortcuts.

1. 1Check your role and objectiveAs a survivor, search for computers and note nearby escape routes. As the Beast, look for survivors and plan a route to a freeze pod.
2. 2Pass the hacking skill checkOn keyboard, press E when the moving indicator reaches the marked zone. Follow the displayed prompt on other devices. Up to three survivors can hack one computer together.
3. 3Use doors, windows and ventsSurvivors can crawl through vents the Beast cannot enter. Both roles can use windows, but jumping slows the Beast. Learn an escape route before starting a computer.
4. 4Rescue teammates and reach an exitFollow the capture marker to a teammate's freeze pod and use the rescue prompt when you have an opening. Once the required computers are finished, open an exit door to escape.
